I recently returned from my Honeymoon in Croatia. Boy did I eat alot of figs! Unfortunately, a quick search of the USDA site was unclear what I could bring back. A search on our forum confirmed it seemed complicated (http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/importing-fig-cuttings-and-seeds-6492802?highlight=importing). Even though I am close to a USDA site. These Photos are all I brought back. This was growing right alongside the Adriatic. Figs were all gone though. Close up of tree above. Other than pulling straight off the trees (which is legal apparently). I ate alot like from small stands like this. The entire bin was 20Kn or about $3.50 The produce bag is filled with dried figs, I didnt try any of those. This is the tree those figs above came from. Off course I drank alot of figs too. All made locally at the vineyards we visted.
Wow! That is an impressive tree! Too bad you couldn't bring any home with you to remember your honeymoon. Those laws are so complicated. It certainly looks as if you thoroughly enjoyed your figs while you were there. Croatia is a beautiful country. Thanks for sharing your pictures.
Congratulations, Frank . . . . and good luck to the bride.
The figs looked great! Did you bring home some liquid figs?
Just curious, what's the percentage of alcohol? Is it like beer, wine or whiskey?
Very nice, I miss good old Croatia. liqueur is like vodka like.
Its closer to Grappa. Close to 90 proof. It has quite a bit of flavor, nothing like vodka. It smells deeply of sweet dried figs and a spice I dont know. Goes down smooth like scotch.
I would have mailed multiple cuttings to myself in different boxes hoping that one got through.
Yea but with my luck I'd be that guy who mailed a cutting with the fig zombie virus or something that wiped out all the figs in the US.
