Indestructible,

Lol no....after Suzi and Aaron giving me such a hard time on this auction really don't feel like doing more.  Is a shame too as I have a 50 or 60 extras I have to do something with.

Fridge drawer?  the 50-60 are 1 gallon pots, I have no cuttings in the fridge.  I started 80? or so new varieties this year not counting what Rafed just sent me.  One of each variety goes in the ground so that leaves a lot of extra 1 gallons.  Some get traded some given away but still a ton.

Will,

Don't be discouraged.
What you did was an awesome thing to do. You are making some great tasting and rare fruit plants and cuttings available while at the same time helping a great cause.

Also,
You are making the lucky winner very happy and excited. And I'm sure there are others to follow and bid on your future offerings.

But if you choose to offer them for sale by others means then please do. Last I checked this was still a free country. So it's your choice, whether it be he to benefit the F4F or ebay or Craigs list or what ever means you choose.

Good luck and happy figging.

Good job Will, I mean it :)

Now send me the extras, I know deep inside you like me. Besides I need an entire hillside to feel up with fig trees for public.

I'm just joking, shish.
I'm done with the auction, mine was just donations...and the highest donor amount gets the package for free...no big deal.

Will, no offense  man.

So, to be clear - your auction, Aaron, was for donations with the highest "donation" (read "bid") getting a free package, correct? How is that in any way different from WillsC's auction where the high bid gets a pack of cuttings, shipped to them for free? Are the proceeds from your auction going to F4F like his? I'm just baffled by the controversy here. Why poke at his thread and his effort, if yours is similar? Honestly, there are easier ways to get attention.

WillsC, good job!

Would you have any extras of Nero600?
My 2 that I started this year didn't make it.
Please pm me if you have got any.
Good luck with your auction!

All right folks,
At last check Hershell placed a $100 bid.
Can we get a higher bidder? Get'em while they're hot folks. They're piping hot.

Time is running out.

Can we get a bid? Can we get a bid?

Can I be the guy who wails out some unintelligible affirmation when a bid comes in?

Auctioneer: "Five dolla, five dolla, fi dolla, Fi!"

Someone bids.

Me: "YHOWLAU!"

Wills,

If you have the time, energy, and desire to share for whatever at any time, then do it. What is thought, said, and sometimes done unintentionally or purposefully are tangential especially when you serve or help people. Happy Easter!

In 2010, Martin and Dan (Abadie) we're the first to share cuttings with me. I will never forget them and looking at my backyard today neither will my neighbors nor the homeowners association. It started an obsession that inspired a collection.

Thus when I read the you had 50-60 one GPs that you were considering sharing on this forum, I thought 'Wow. Now that would be quite generous and very cool. And it would be one of the best, if not the best, pay it forwards I have witnessed on this forum. A rooted, potted and leafed out plant would be an outstanding 'get' for newbies (and some of the rest of us). Yeah that would be exceptional.

Selfishly, I am also curious to see what you have to share. Why? Well, your scale - in terms of capacity and ability and capability to grow - is an order of magnitude (or two) more than most forum members. There may be yet another fig that I add to my list.

Nevertheless, Keep sharing Wills. It is working and having an impact.

JD,

You are right about the sharing.....I still remember who gave me my first cuttings....it was from Chivas:)  He Pm'ed me out of the blue and said here ya go.....

Last year I did post all the extra 1 gallons I had, think the thread was titled fig purgatory.  The problem is that makes your PM's go crazy and it isn't fun sorting through 50 Pm's.    I have discussed this with Rafed and I am considering selling the plants and donating the proceeds....a portion to the foundation and a portion locally......we shall see.    I really love starting the plants, it is by far my favorite part of this hobby. That though runs you in to a problem of what to do with the extras.  In addition to the 50 or so 1 gallons I mentioned in the thread I have another 200?? that went straight from moss to 1 gallons, they were leftover cuttings from my inground plants.  They will have to go somewhere.  To be frank I retired at 40 so I don't need the money but it would be nice to see the plants go to people that would enjoy them and a steady stream of extra revenue for the foundation and for the local food bank.

Wills,
All doable if you have the time, energy and desire.
What you written is an example of what I mean by scale. 50 + 200 extra? Impressive.

I'd like to put in my 2 cents if i possibly could. Firstly WilisC you need to be commended for your generosity and for your desire to help out the foundation.  Some people don't know how much of a pain in the A$$ it can be to do a giveaway or an auction.  It's alot of work and sometimes when people leave negative remarks for your efforts your motivation gets taken away.

As for Suzi's comments. They are just 1 opinion expressed by 1 person. She is entitled to her opinion NO MATTER WHAT IT IS. Calling her names or accusing her of being under the influence is not the right approach. Nor is it in the best interest of the forum or it's members. I do not know Suzi personally but can you all imagine if those comments were made about you ? How would you feel ?

I'm not defending her comments nor am i saying i agree with her opinion. I in fact don't agree with her. But with that said i think we can agree or disagree without the name calling.

BTW WilisC i wish you were in Canada. You have some beautiful plants.

Drama aside (seriously, can't we all just get along?), everyone who is donating is doing a great thing. Keeping this website and knowledge available isn't free.

Hershell, great job making us all look cheap! Just kidding, it is great to see the enthusiasm. I'd love to up the bid, especially since that Nero 600m is (potentially) included.  Alas, all my money is invested in diapers. Had I known a year ago I'd have invested in diaper companies first, sheesh.
