cutting drawing water to top.

i have seen this on maybe 3 or 4 cuttings. the cutting is drawing water from the soil and it's on top of the cutting. it's not condensation. why is it doing this? is it indicating that root is working and it's drawing water? or is it some issue with the cutting?

usually the ones with this issue ar growing rather well. i never kept them in the box long enough to see the root on one with this since i'm concerned about mold and other things and take them out of the box and leave'em outside where they can get good circulation.

cuttings form the fall, i had about 3 or 2 doing this. they all went outside without roots showing in the cup and all generated enough roots to go into 1 gal.. they since died due to my lack of care.

now i'm seeing this with one of the Black Madeira cuttings. it seems the night temp will be over 50' for next few days. i'm thinking about taking it outside under a shade.

It's not clear how developed your cuttings are, but if they are well-rooted it sounds like you might be talking about "guttation". Check Wiki for a description & see if it fits what you're observing.

Guttation is a fairly common occurance and is not considered a malady. It's often seen outside on leaves in the morning, often just on the edges. If I saw it on my figs I'd be pleased since it would reflect they were functioning normally. :)

When I trimmed backed someones hacked figs, they had water oozing out from the large cuts.  This stopped as soon as there was growth, it could just be root pressure pushing the water out of a wound that is not fully healed or what the Dr and Gina are saying.
