cuttings and critique

Hello everyone, i just got my first fig tree (brown turkey)  and i think i might be addicted.  I was wondering if there was anyone who would be willing to share some of their fig cuttings for zone 7 (baltimore-washington dc area).  Also, most figs i see on the forums or online are a bushy form, as you can see in the picture my tree isnt really doing that, i bought it like this, can anyone give any info on what to expect in the future from this tree.  Right now its about 4-5 feet tall from the soil line.  Sorry about the image, i had to scale it down from my phone to fit as an attachment.

Habib, you are a little late in that I gave away a batch of extra cuttings a couple weeks ago.  It will be easier to find cuttings between November and March or so when people prune their trees.  Feel free to PM me around that time frame as I am within driving distance from you and will be doing some pruning.

Steve

welcome to the forum. that tree looks fine. it might branch out and will look fuller later. like steve said above, the cutting season is from mid winter to early spring. most people do not cut their trees during active growing season. but stick around and share your stories and time will fly by quickly.

Awesome guys, thanks for the advice and I will deff pm again around that tjme frame.

Welcome to the forum, I am in the same area as you but do not have any cuttings left. Check back with me later during the winter

Thanks zach, yep, I actually live in catonsville, but commute to college park so that increases my range, gosh, i didnt think there were other fig growers around here, hopefully i can start a collection and spread them around my area. Everyone I know loves figs but for some reason none of them have any plants.

Habib90b, I sent you a PM a couple days ago.  Did you get it?

Rewton, sorry i dont think i recieved it, actually it might be my fault because im new to forums, anyway my email is habib90b@yahoo.com
Thanks.

Habib...if your looking for a bush type fig tree instead of a standard tree, then one way to do that is to air layer the top right off of that tree, which will cause side shoots to come our of the lower half of the tree, and eventually turn it into a bush...but maybe you want to wait until next season to do that, until the tree gets a little more established... it will also give you a little more time to gain experience with fig trees...I have four air layers going right now to deal with that same type of situation...the four trees are tall sticks, with all the foliage at the top...I prefer the bush type...therefore the airlayers are in place...it takes about 2 months before the top can be separated from the bottom, at which time you will then have two fig trees instead of one...good luck, and welcome to the Forum.
