Cuttings etiquette-Help please

Hello all

I am attaching a photo of a tip that will become a cutting to be sent to a member. As you will notice, toward the bottom right there is a small branch that is about 2-3 inches approximately. Should that be trimmed off the main six-inch cutting I will send to the member? And if I do trim it, does the little cutting have any value as its own cutting, or is it just too small? Thank you in advance to all responders.

I would trim it off, wrap in a damp paper towel and toss in a ziploc and put in a closet.... if it were closer to the top and not such an awkward angle I'd say leave it, but it will interfere with be able to package the cutting nicely and is a lovely cutting without that. IMHO.

I would say that if it has 3 nodes it is a legitimate cutting. I am sending cuttings out also and 3 nodes was my benchmark.

I like to ship and receive strait pieces. They are much easier to wrap and protect. Pretty much any branched scion I have had shipped to me has been damaged or dried out if it was not sent in a box.
If you are not shipping in a box, I would snip it off. Then send it along as a bonus or root it yourself.

Rafael , since you indicate this cutting is already promised to a member, I'd reach out to them and see what they prefer. That's a nice looking little branch there that could add some character to the new tree.

If you cut that little shoot off with a small T section of the main branch it might stand a better chance of successful rooting. Just like pruning, decisions...decisions.

I like getting those quarky little pieces. I've gotten pretty tiny cuttings to root or it could be left on for character or future plans.  I agree with Mark and think you should ask the person you are sending them to. It's nice of you to put so much thought into it.

Am with coop 3 nodes is more than enough,

Well thanks everyone again for your ideas, I corresponded with the recipient and he opted to have me cut the twig and include it in the package, I will try to shoot for 3 nodes in my cuttings, happy thanksgiving to all!
