I potted my cuttings in a 50/50 mix of perlite and sterile potting mix, then put them in an inverted ten gallon fish tank under lights. I noticed green buds on each of them and a couple leaves already on some. Looks like they will all make it!! The cuttings are Egg Harbor and Salem White. Thanks again Al and Bass for bringing those cuttings!!
The Salem white and Dark seem to show very quick results rooting. It is one of the fastest growing figs I've ever seen.
I agree as both of my Salem White cuttings have leaves and are looking strong! Very fast indeed!! Bass can you tell me a little abotu the fruit? Thanks
That's a nice piece of information to have!! Fruit looks good!! Can't wait til I get some production!!! Thanks
Hey Bass the Salem Dark & White are both syrian figs right?
Salem father came from Syria back in the 60's and lived in a neighborhood among syrians and Italians. The Dark one is a syrian variety most likely called Shiblawi, but the white one he wasn't a 100% sure if it came from Italy or Syria. His father called it Boydi which is a common white fig in Syria. Anyways it seems to be a good producer for the area, and had a tight eye. Here's salem with his two fig trees in his valley in Pennsylvania.here's the Salem Whitehere's the Salem Dark,
Thanks Bass for the clarification and pics wow those are some big trees, The salem Dark I have just started growing like a weed in the last 2 weeks really have with it.
