Cuttings in baggie with Sphagnum moss

One other way I have tried, besides the drill method, is to use a utility razor knife and cut notches around the outer bottom edge. I just make two small slanting cuts that meet and it makes a small diamond shaped hole in the bottom and side, which are the low points of the bottoms of the 24 oz SOLO brand clear cups I got at COSTCO. I make four of these around the edges of the cup and they drain great. It takes more time than drilling 4 at once, but I like the result better.

I am using the hot soldering iron like Bill and I found it very easy and fast. The smoke is not that bad with mine.

So far I've just used a paring knife to poke holes in the cups (16oz clear cups from Walmart).  It's not pretty but it works.  Is there a reaon to use something that creates even holes?

Lisa

When i rooted last season i used a nail heated on the stove to make holes in clear plastic cups .

Lisa, I don't see any reason why nice neat holes would make any difference at all. The hot soldering iron just makes quick work of any plastic...ummm..but so would a table saw in the right hands. Just watch those fingers.
