Cuttings Of The Tree From The Godfather Movie Available

It is with great pleasure that I have the opportunity to release cuttings of a tree with a historic cinematic heritage and extraordinary provenance. After trimming the tree last fall, I felt that I needed some time with it  before I released cuttings so I could trial it and see how well it would root. Having propagated a large number of cuttings now, I can tell you that this is a terrific rooter,  eager to grow and  very healthy looking.

The one thing I  would ask anyone who decides to grows this tree  is to

PLEASE NOT SELL ON IT eBAY. If you are looking to buy it to sell it please don't buy it . That was never my intent for this tree, this is a tree for the enjoyment of the collectors.   I would love to keep it in our forums based fig enthusiast world and then we can all have something special between us. If you grow an extra one and would like to give it to a family member or a  good fig friend, that's fine, just let them know what this plant is all about.

It is a wonderful story of where the tree came from, how it was used, as well as how it is being saved and immortalized . I would love to make these cuttings available to all who will truly appreciate this tree for what  it is.

Cuttings are $10.00 each plus $7.00 shipping per package , with a maximum of 4 so everyone can get a shot at it as they are somewhat limited.  The cuttings are quite nice with at least 3-4 nodes on them . I also waxed the ends last fall and they have been properly stored since then.

Great offer! Thanks for making this available!

Sent you a PM.

Great deal! I am out of space to root more cutting at the moment but I would be interesting in rooted cutting if any one ends up with extras. I will have some extras of my own to trade in late spring.

Sent!
Thank you !!!

I think someone is already selling them on ebay. Seen them a few days ago.

Richie,
I sold a tree on eBay the other day as a gift to the person who owns the tree.
There are no other cuttings from this tree anywhere

Hi Coop. Thank you.

Sent an order through Paypal with the message as requested.

By "gift" did you mean to send under "Friends and Family"?

I did not notice a "gift" tab and used that tab.

  Mike

Thank you so much for such respect for the trees and the relationships here Coop.  PM sent.  I am honored to share in this tree and its history.  Best, Jodi

Is this the same fig tree of Sal's Of Corleone Godfather City # 1? Thanks

Garden,
There was a suggestion from a very well respected  member of of the fig community in one of the threads that it is a Sal's Corleone. Is that what you are making reference to.

It's not even close to Sals c

wish i was good at rooting, im not a pro and would prob ruin the cutting.

Coop, thank you again for offering these up.  It will be cool to get a chance to have a little piece of the movie growing in the back yard!

I'm very excited about getting this wonderful tree out there. I have never made any presumptions on what variety this is. What I do know is that the production company brought the plant in from Sicily Italy, and it was used in the movie.
I think some of the fun of all this is finding out what it may be.
This is why I've only referred to this tree as "The Fig Tree From The Godfather Movie"

What a wonderful offer for this historical fig tree. Thank you for making this available Coop.

Do you know which movie and what scenes the tree was in?

I am not a "The Godfather" movie expert, the only trees I remember is when Marlon Brando was in his backyard with his grandson playing, he was eating an orange before he died.  I can't remember what the trees looked like.

Just watched it - he was among his tomatoes, no fig tree in that scene:(

JoAnn, i believe thats the scene where you can see the trees.

Jo Ann
Check my original post. There is a discussion on that scene
Coop

I think this is the link

I see pine trees and oak trees along the back fence, I don't see a fig tree.

I just might HAVE to watch it AGAIN - I've seen it least 20 times - I lost count LOL LOL

Coop, i always think of "unknowns" as a treasure to be discovered. This one has some wonderful history, which makes it that much more special.

Thanks - just read the thread.

The poor trees scene was most likely left on the cutting room floor!

Well then, I want some of the cuttings from the cutting room floor!

I just sent a payment. I'm in a hurry, (I was supposed to put the wash in the dryer, and I forgot, now we are leaving to go away) I wasn't sure how to send it as a gift so I just added another $3.00. Hope that is ok. I'll post more tomorrow when I get home. A great big Thank you!
