Cuttings wilting/wrinkled bark

I have some cuttings and am concerned if I have lost them or not. The bark seems to be shriveled and dry. They are in clear cups and I'm afraid to move anything and check for root growth. Is this normal and they bounce back? Or are they lost?

chances are very good that cutting below soil is rotted. if it had roots, they are also dried up. the cutting above the soil is not getting moisture from the bottom and they are drying up. i would say they are goner.

Probably deaders.  Since there's a slight chance they could survive, safest move is to isolate them from the rest of the cuttings.  Reason is that if a fungus gnat gets into a dead one and starts laying eggs, they could multiply and start to go after the healthy ones.

:( thanks.

I isolated some 'goners' into their own humidity bin (making sure there was adequate moisture in there), then pretty much closed it up and forgot about them. On passing I would open the lid maybe once every 5 or 6 days to fan and close again.  I'm pleased to say that I was able to remove a handful of them, when to my surprise, they began to leaf out. So don't just chuck em.  Give them one last go round.

I did have a little mold. i took them out and cut off the bottom until i saw green. There is a little bit of life left. i'll see what i can do to keep them going.

I agree with the above.  Don't completely give up on them.  If they are in cups, then take a ziplock bag and mist it real good and put it over the top.  Keep out of direct sunlight and see what happens.  I thought I had lost several only to find about 15-20% recovered.  Do NOT over water...worst thing you could do.  If the soil is completely dry (cups very light compared to others), then a tbs of water and put in the bag.  Most likely the top dried out due to low humidity.  You could try cutting off a portion of the top of the cutting to see if there is still viable plant material.  Start slowly...not big bites.
