Cuttings with leaves???

I received cuttings from Jimmychao. (Thanks Jimmy) But they have already started pushing leaves. The leaves are about 2" long. How should I root them? I usually root in sphagnum, but what do I do with the leaves? Do I cut them or rip them off? Pot them as is in soil with extra water? I have 20 cuttings so I could do a few different methods, any advice?

You can pot some and put them in the shade outdoors. They will need water only when it has not rained for a week or so. It might frost this weekend though...

Keep them in the shade to limit the amount of water they lose.

Pot them up, water and cover the leaves with a humidity tent.  Put the plant in the shade and don't let it dry out. Ray Givens tells you how starting at 2:40 in this video.

I say stick one right in the ground too.

The fact that you have leaves on the cuttings, might help to 'push roots' if you plant them in the ground...but don't put all your eggs in one basket...you have enough cuttings to try various methods...good luck...and have fun...    :)  :)

I decided to do half in potting soil with a humidity dome. (Clear Rubbermaid tote in the shade) and the other half in sphagnum moss. I treated them all w Dip N Grow. Now it's time to wait.

The ones I got from him that had leaves got walked out to the live oak and shoves in the bed under it. Sink or swim guys.

Lol. It's a cruel world. Jealous you get to have a live oak.

I've got 7 live oaks and the 3 weeks out of the year that they're not spewing stuff around my yard I love them.
