Cyprus Apple...Well, one f'em...

I have a very rare Apple tree that I trimmed last week.
This variety is indigenous to island of Cyprus.
Mule Apple. the story goes ..in World War I, when armies were using Mules to transport heavy armories there was not enough grazing animal food so they fed the Mules with native huge apples that locals did not appreciate so much. so, slowly that variety of apple started to decline . until UN solders in 1970's discovered them again and thought it was a different taste to an apple. so natives came to their senses about the long abandoned apple variety and started to cultivate it again. They renamed it and called "Ghauromila" meaning Mule Apple. this variety is very large, tart and very juicy green and one side slightly pinkish when ripe.
original to the island of Cyprus.

I have cuttings and scions to share for free, just pay s/h$5 through PayPal.
...i have to idea why or how i'm getting this green background..LOL

Edit: I forgot to mention, each apple weighs more than a pound...

Great story Aaron. I always appreciate hearing the history. Sounds like a good cider apple.

Thanks Dale,
This variety is not only Tart, it has some sweetness but tart overpowers...Super crunchy and juicy.
I was watching a documentary on the Orchard Farmer on Cider apples (I think it was on Netflix) or was it here , i don't remember, and they mentioned the Cider apples being tart and bitter.

Need some sweetness.
