I see that seller of Dall'Osso fig plant  dragonking1959  have a lot of cuttings listed.
Anybody have an idea about this varieties?  Can not find any information about varieties on internet .

I found info on all of them. Some of her varieties had a light and dark version. (Online) By her description you can tell what variety it is. It seemed that they were all good figs. Some of them that are described as "late ripening" I tend to pass on those because of my growing conditions. They are all pretty rare.

Visited dragonking this February -- her knowledge and devotion to growing
figs is way above mine. She has many big names varieties & strange named ones that I
do not know how to pronounced. Just don't start her talking about figs too much. You will be lost
in fig haven & forget why you are there. A humble host and I am glad she is parting some
variants. She and Jon could be the Baud's or M.Pon's of North America.....

Ebay is a pain!  IF I bid, which is rare, I wait till the last 30 seconds.  But, nothing I know of is worth this effort.

The prices went as I expected, except for Rossellinio. I don't know why that one was so much more expensive.

I own a Rosselino. a fine fig, bifere, green with a reddish/brown blush and red interior.
She has a Monachino up for auction now, i own one of that too.
Both figs come from the northern part of Italy and do not need as much heat to ripen as the ones from southern italy.

I would be careful spending a lot of money on a Dall'Osso ,I have a young one that has not produced yet, so i can't say from experience but i never heard it was  good or bad. Yes it is rare (not for long).

Mario,
I think everyone has seen that nice looking historic Dall'Osso picture/painting.
Like you say I have never seen a matching recent real photo of a Dall'Osso fig here or in Italy.
Hopefully you will be one of the first.

Hello, Gordenia I received my Tauro fig tree today. I was not sure if anyone was actually capable of seeing what others purchase. I believe only the seller can actually see who is bidding on their items. if someone clicks on bidders list, buyers names are actually hidden. For a second I thought you were the one selling Dall' Osso and Tauro fig. Here are some photos of my Tauro Fig Tree. 01.jpg

Half of Gordenia's posts are promoting her trees, which are rare and nice, but like most members, I will just have to wait until they are not so rare and within my price range. In the meantime I will just have to settle for CdDG,N,and B, Figo Preto, Black Madeira, Maltese Falcon and Beauty, etc, etc, etc...... I remember how rare they were at one time but now I have them at an affordable price. They may be not be so rare anymore but I really don't think any of the new "rare" varieties will compare with their taste. Now saying this, I believe that Olya(Olga) has some pretty rare varieties and she deserves all the dollars that she can get for cuttings and starter plants. No one has the connections that she does in obtaining the rare varieties. So if it is a must have variety then start bidding! Good luck Olya.

Brian just posted "Olya's listings" so, therefore "her trees" referred to Olya. not you.

It just seemed a little weird that's all. I have spoken to Olya and she is great. Most of us find these RARE trees to be out of our price range. However,I am in now way bashing your efforts to raise awareness of her trees for sale.

I see that members post information about reputable sellers and ebay auctions for rare trees, can not understand why it is "little weird ".

It's ok not to understand. Little weird meant consistent hype towards Olyas eBay listings. No biggie good luck with your trees.

All other eBay listings are something you will see often, nothing special, but Olga is selling something rare. If one of us will get it we all will have chance to get cuttings next year as many members willing to share..

Gordenia do you know anything about these varieties? Many I had never heard of before to know if they were any good, or just foreign.

It was a reason for my post- to ask for any information about this varieties. I was not able to get any information, so I get an idea that those  are rare trees.
No information from members  either.

Nick and everybody else: these are rare varieties from Puglia (Heel of Italy). They come originally from trees sold inside Italy by an excellent nursery called "Punto Verde." It is not by any means clear how these cuttings have been obtained, since they do not ship outside of Italy, not even to other European countries. Punto Verde is propagating figs from an underappreciated and very worthy fig micro-climate called "Il Salento." Pomona Gardens (Paolo Belloni) are leading the way in preserving the figs of Salento, much like Mr. Pons in Mallorca.

I am kindly asking all members to stop sending me emails regarding this topic. I do not even know any of the people you telling me nasty story about.

I do believe that we all have to be informed about sales of rare figs, but I refuse to discuss an insinuations about folks involved in sales.
” Who, what and why” is not in my scope of interests. I am into plants not into personal affairs.

Thank you again for understanding.
