Jose, is the relative humidity level of the air in your yard usually high or low?? That drip pipe along with straw will surely keep the relative humidity of the "air" just above that straw pretty high. Mine is consistently pretty high almost year round and I can get by with only an occasional watering to the cuttings that I root outdoors. I'm just wondering if that straw acts as a relative humidity diffuser of sorts.......and helps keep the top portion of the cuttings from drying out.
FYI, last year my 7 ft. Dalmatie tree produced some figs for me. It is a very good tasting, large fig......and it looks like it may do quite well in my rainy climate. So far I don't see any figs on my tree this year. Maybe it is not yet in its "normal" fruiting cycle.
