Danny's Delite beba

A little light on flavor (cool weather) but lusciously juicy and sweet.

But it looks so green on the outside.
Is the main crop fruit colour going to be the same as the breba?
My plant rooted in spring of 2009 is still small and no sign of embryos yet. Could become a 2011 delite.

Yes, exterior is green, and main crop will be deeper red inside, though sometimes they are yellow/honey. Go figure. Oh, I forgot, figs do strange things,

I already snarfed down the few my potted Danny's Delight produced the other day.  The weather here has been plenty warm, but I also noticed that the flavor was somewhat bland (as compared to my personal standard Green Ischia) but still sweet and good. I guess I'd call it a 'light tasting' fig. Not a complex taste but still good.  It might make preserves that would not be a little lighter in flavor than most. Mine was also much lighter colored inside than your pic.

I really need to figure out how to connect my camera to the computer so I can post pictures too...

Has anyone outside of California and the Southwest gotten the green figged version of Danny's Delite from Jon/Encanto to bear? I started mine in 2009. It produced (but dropped) a couple of brebas in 2010. Otherwise, nothing. I see no embryos this year. It has an okay shape, so I might try grafting some other varieties onto it next year.

I know of Breba / Main Crop figs.
Jon whats a Beba ?

i think "beba" is breba of light fig that certain member of this forum will not voluntarily eat :)

I think it's slang. Like...Hey beba watchoo doin?

Or..We jus haf nine bebas.

Or...Beba fetch meya beeya.

Or..As Robert Plant would say.."Beba beba beba beba pleeaaase!"

:)
