--- Dark berry fig ID, please

Or put on your Ninja suit and get us all cuttings  :)

Bob, I like the way you think.

I second Bob's suggestion. I might even throw in the ninja suit and a set of nunchuks. Son said no to the throwing stars.

Sounds and looks like a good fig. Nice find and thanks for sharing. I hope it is a common fig, tastes great everywhere, and gets distributed widely.

:-)!

I went to that house today to check on the tenants, well... nada. Nobody was inside. I also found a large Brown Turkey tree on the other side. Not that it is super exciting but it means that somebody at some point in the past cared about the figs.
Will try again in a few days.
I would feel bad to collect the cuttings now. First, I need to talk to the owner and second, every brunch is loaded with figs, there are no 'blanks' where I can reach.

Hope you have better luck next try- it sounds like a fantastic fig ! Hopefully they will allow you to take cuttings .

Maybe Barnisotte Gris?  One of the pictures in the data base has that flattened shape like LSU Gold has.

Maybe, but I have never tried a BG so I cannot confirm or deny it.
Anybody can post a photo of the leaves?

Greenfig,

From my list of BLACKS took these two pictures which may be from a cousin of your 'newfoundFig'
Have a look...

Could you help me to identify the fig, please?

Relevant info:

-the tree seems to be planted, not a seedling
-small tight eye
-very red flesh, completely filled inside, no void
-the taste is very raspberry, slightly acidic, excellent !!! (that's the main thing !!! :)
-the shape is flattish, about 2" in the widest part
-the fruit color is not super dark, more like brownish at the top and blackish near the eye
-it seems the tree has the breba and the main crop figs
-leaves are 1 to 3 lobes (but mostly 1)
-the tree is not huge, maybe 12 ft high

The tree is covered with figs (main crop) that are not ripe yet, I managed to find 2 brebas that you can see on the photos.

Any ideas?

Hi all. this fig is native in Sicily, are named " Furdicchiara " ! the description of taste e pics are perfect , same some fig tree i have discovered in my zone in Sicily.
Next year I send some photos.
greetings to all :-)

Wow, what city is that in Igor??? Address? Haha...

LA suburb :)
It’s a big city!

Thank you, totillos !

Hey Igor, did you ever grow this fig? Any answers to its identity?

I wish I had any leads. It seems to be a Smyrna fig and very vigorous and healthy tree. Grows well in the ground and pots.

I used to keep a fishing pole in the car, now I carry clippers! Lol

Is this the tree you named El Molino or is it different?

Mara,
This is a different tree.
