Curious about the difference between dark and black portuguese and spanish figs, is it simply the difference in common names used? I have dark portuguese and see sellers list fig cuttings as black portuguese and also a black spanish. Both Jon's and Bass's descriptions suggest they are the same.  All of us also have a healthy orchard of the proverbial UNKOWNs! so I have been researching a simple plant DNA test that is affordable to isolate common traits.

Black Spanish is closer to BT. It is NOT Dark Portuguese. Dark Portuguese, acc to USDA is close to hardy Chicago.

Yes, I know, my point is is Dark Port the same as Black Port.   ?
