Dauphine Fig

Does any one have experience growing the Dauphine violet fig.? How is the flavor and sweetness?
Thanks
Ed

I have Violette Dauphine, or more accurately, I am holding and caring for a USDA plant of VD. I had one fruit this year. Not very good. but wouldn't judge it on that one taste on a immature tree.

Edarena,
I got one too. My understanding  is that it is a 'Breba Only' kind of fig  (like Desert
King) for us people up north (main crop needs caprification). Have not gotten
any fruit yet (in 2 years), and for that matter not from DK either. Maybe next year.
If pruning, keep as much 'this year' wood for the 'following year'  breba..
Ripe pictures look good, but I have never seen/tasted one yet...
George (NJ).

My fruit was definitely a main crop fruit, but there seems the likelihood that I have an unknown source of caprification. Perhaps that will be confirmed if/when I get fruit on my Zidi. I have some nice pictures of Zidi from USDA/UC Davis when I get time to prep them.

There is a little bit of confusion with Dauphine (Grise de Tarascon) and Violette Dauphine (Rouge d'Argenteuil).
The Dauphine is a San Pedro type whereas the Violette Dauphine seems to bear both Breba and main crop. I have both varieties and the habit and the leaves are completely different, but no fruits yet.
You can find pix of both varieties at http://www.mercato-verde.ch/pages/katalog/fruchtfeigen.html
