Deanna large and sweet!

This is my first year getting figs from this tree.  It's Deanna.  A fast growing large lemon color fig that is sweet from stem to eye!  Weak weekly liquid feed is the trick.  I stop feeding it for a week and it started to suffer a little.  As soon as I started the weekly feed....well, just look at the pictures.  I picked the first fig about a month a go.  And the second one last week.  I got another today that's the same size if not heavier.  It is the same color as Marseilles but larger and softer in size.  Some don't like light color figs but this one is one of the sweetest yellow figs I've tasted.  I got another one from Bass called Byadi.  I picked one of those figs yesterday.  It was soft and started to wrinkle so I picked it.  It was pure sugar!  I did not take any pics of it cause I thought it was going to be dry and bad.  Boy was I wrong!

Dennis, no excuse for not taking pictures of the Byadi. Any new ones coming?

Bass, I got plenty of them coming.  I got it growing right next to my Black Spanish, too close and forgot to check it a few days ago.  I don't like Black Spanish, mine are not sweet at all.  But Byadi is totally awesome!  Sweet is an under statement!  Bass, I'll post pictures later.

Dennis, I just picked a couple. They do taste great, These were the figs that got me hooked since my childhood. It tastes like honey with sesame.

Didn't expect much of my Deanna at first but i've been giving it more time to prove itself. The tree is in its second year. When its not so humidy they taste pretty good, at this time maybe an 8. I started to let it go for the birds but I will let it get a little.

I think I love the gold ones.  I'm not saying I'm not on the dark side, but so far, my faves are gold!  24 kt!

Dennis, that Deanna gold looks and sounds really nice. Did you start this from a cutting? Everytime i think i have enough, i see one more cutivar that looks like a must have.

Beautiful fig...love the lightbulb size reference pics saijo!

Thanks for the post Dennis and the pics. I grew Deanna 10-12 years back. Mine was a rather flat fig with a large eye. If it was dry, it had a good flavor and was sweet. If it was wet and humid, flavor was down and insects were a problem. It stayed with the house we sold.

Deanna, doesn't do well in the ground in my climate. My in the ground tree passed away this past winter. But my container tree is doing fine. Mine came from Rolling River 6yrs ago. The figs from my tree were sweet but not rich.

Thanks Greg when a light went off in my head I said yes lets compare with a light bulb. I may just leave these figs for the birds who knows but I will give it more time they wasn't that bad.
