The intense sweetness of some figs when dead ripe obliterates much of their taste, it seems, so I picked three figs this evening well before hitting a dead ripe stage. Petite Negri, Improved Celeste, Martin's Unknown (smallest to large). They formed a sort of appetizer (IC), meal (MU), dessert (PN). The Improved Celeste had not nearly even darkened completely yet was soft to touch (like all three figs) and tasted pointedly and pleasantly sweet and gummy and juicy, ample in size. The Martin's Unknown was mildly sweet and plenty filling, several figs in one. The Petite Negri was berry jam sweet and super dense think. (Though the PN was ripest, it was counterintuitively firmest to touch, which indicates how thick and thus filling it was for its size. It had the impact of a fig twice its measure.) A kind of three course set up. That is, it could have been, if I hadn't eaten dessert first, the appetizer second, and the meal last. 2014-09-07 08.08.22.jpg  2014-09-07 08.08.36.jpg  2014-09-07 08.10.08.jpg  2014-09-07 08.11.50.jpg  2014-09-07 08.10.19.jpg
