Del La Senyora fig

Good day, it's been a long 2 year wait and here is one of my new BEST tasting green fig.  It's called Del La Senyora, a fig from Spain.  This fig taste pretty darn close to Black Maderia.  It has a unique flavor and is very sweet.  I could have waited another day or two but it's been raining and this fig was busting out of this seams.  I wasn't expecting this fig to be good but it totally fulled me!  It has that goob of thick honey in the center.  I left half for my wife to taste and she asked for more!  So, this fig is a keeper.  Rafed, you would love this fig. Martin would not.  This one is definately a keeper.  Another one of my Spanish figs.  On a scale of one to 10, this one is a twelve!

OK Dennis, Where did you get this fig from? I really enjoy seeing your figs, the only problem is..Now, just from looking and your discription of taste, adding another to my list to get. Thanks, I think. HEHE

Luke, I got it from Bass about 3 years ago.  Bass and I were chatting a lot back then and I bought 5 Spanish figs from him.  Cartengena Negra, this one, Souadi, Napolitana Negra, and another one that I can't find the label on.  I don't know how hardy this one is so for the past 3 years, I winterized it inside my garage.  I will winterize this one again.  But the other one without a label produces medium light green figs red interior and it oozes honey from the eye when ripe.  I picked 2 last week and the  birds got the other 2.  This is another good fig.

Dennis,

That looks like one that I am looking for. Known simply as Señora (Lady). One of the few varieties Condit describes as "excellent" quality. Please keep me in mind if you ever have a spare cutting or two you want to trade. Enjoy!

btw, was there any seed crunch?

Dennis, I'm glad it ripened so early for you. This is suppose to be a late variety. It is very rare in Spain and considered an endangered variety. It is high on the list of best tasting varieties.

Noss, although it did not split open like Brunswick, if you zoom in on one of the pictures you will see that there are 4 seams around the fig were the skin was spliting.  This fig could have stayed on another day or 2 but just one day ago.  It rained hard the day before and the temps were above 85.  This fig just got bigger and bigger with the extra rain and heat.  It was not watery at all.  It had that center goob of unique honey in the center that taste a lot like Black Maderia.  I deceided to plant it in the ground after it reached 7 foot tall inside my garage.  Planted in my orchard, it gets full sun until 6PM.  So, I planted it in a very good spot.  My Cartengena Negra died to ground over the winter but came back and is now 3 feet tall.  I think I will plant it beside this tree come Spring and Souadi near by.

Ruben, there was no seed crunch.

Bass, I am so glad I took a chance on those 5 Spanish fig.  Hat's off to you my friend!  I am so so happy.  You're the MAN!  Let me know when you come down in October.  I'll show you the tree along with the others.   I'm not sure how it will do this winter so I will winterize it with burplap and leaves.

Hi! Dennis,

How are you? How is your Del La Senyora tree doing? Do you grow it in the ground? Can you please share more information on photos of leaves and figs? I notice Del La Senyora has shorter neck than Col De Dame Blanc. Col De Dame Blanc has more deeper red pulp than Del La Senyora. Del La Senyora is ripening at least 4 weeks earlier than Col De Dame Blanc in your climate. So, I think they are two different varieties. Can you share a few cuttings with me? Thank you.

Best,
Tam

Nice pictures of a great fig be it either name!

Ideally it should never get any rain through the last ripeness stages. (and plenty of Sun)
A delicious fig
