Delicious looking figs of the Canary islands

Breba Malpais

Colorada

Breba Ervilla

Bass,
i reached to grab the first one and the third one and almost broke my monitor !
Would love to see the insides of those figs in my yard !!!

Good team work guys...

I've been to the canary islands but did not collect any figs while there. I have seen several fig trees in the mountainous island of Gran Canaria. Canary islands are very dry, when I was there they didn't have rain for 3 years. The fig trees were covered with dust, and not much to look at. I know I have at least one of these varieties.
The Malpais fig reminds me of the De la Reina fig from Mallorca island.

Bass thanks for posting what beautiful looking fruit. Nelson thanks for the link and Martin for the translation.
I kick myself in the butt for not being into figs I visited this beautiful island Tenerife along with Madeira and Spain and of course Italy in 2008 only a few months after we returned did my passion for figs start up again. I'm sure I could have brought back some cuttings IF I Only Knew ;(
Nice to read and look at the pics. I believe that is the volcano in Tenerife in the back round of one Pic. We traveled up both the North and south side of Island and what was interesting is one side Had white sand beach and the other was black sand from volcano
Here are a few picks of Island I was really taking a picture of the black sand That is my story and I'm sticking to it lol Road leading up to volcano and rock formation and a pic of volacano in back round The sky has a constant over cast look and was told that it is due to the dust or sand blowing high above from the Sahara Desert in Africa.

I hope that pic doesn't offend any one if so pm me and I will remove This is normal in Europe
Sal

Sal,

Thanks for sharing. I went there for my Luna de miel. i spent two weeks there. Tenerefe has the highest mountain in Spain. Thanks for sharing.

Bass had to look that up( Luna de miel).lol We only had a 6-8 hours on each island as we were on a Trans_ Atlantic Cruise so time was limited to what we saw and did until we disembarked in Italy and spent 9 days. I was amazed at how advanced in some aspects the European's are The roads were beautifully maintained and recycling is a priority in most parts. Energy and conservation is also top priority. I stayed in hotels in Italy where your key card had to be inserted to turn on lights and electricity for your room. What a great idea how many times we leave lights TV and A/C going at full blast especially when traveling and staying in hotels. We can definitely take some lessons even the toilets had 2 modes one releasing less water when a big flush was not needed. Simple ideas and not hard to implement. Any way one day if we a fortunate we will travel again and this time I will have my pruning shears with me.
Sal

Bass, where are the pics of the insides?

Jose I thought I was the only one who couldn't see those pics also.
