Desert King Cuttings !!!!!!

I was gifted a large branch, which I can share with a few others for posting or something else (plant/starter/ scion (persimmon/ asian pear?))

Got the picture from the web, the tree that gave us the branches, is the one to the right of the gate, behind the very tall evergreen.

Note the other tree with much lighter green shade to the left, that is also a DK, she said it died to the root, and resprouted in 4 trunks, although not as productive, I suspect it does not get much light, it sits at the bottom of the carved out driveway. Very good looking, but in a wrong location for fruiting.

Please PM me if interested/ Shipping of thick branches like this will be about $4 or $5.

I would like a few please

That needs the fig wasp, right? Our am I mistaken?

Grasa, PM sent.
James, it doesn't need the wasp for the breba crop.
If it freezes back, you lose that one crop for the year.
Go for it.

I have plenty of those wasps especialy down the street.Bring Smyrna figs on lol

Brian, your PM is disabled. send me email if you want the cuttings.

I do not have this fig (only little treelings), but have heard and have seen the trees of neighbours- tons of fruits.... it sells at a local nursery for $26 for one year stick up to $100 for a 4-5 year old.

It seems to be the first choice fig around here.

this video describes how he prunes everyother year, if you wish to keep the trees small.

the tree I got the branch from is about 20+feet and not pruned. the branches cascade down from their own weights.  I will have to go back there and take some pictures of the tree to share. it is magnific.

Will you ship overseas

Kevin, I am sorry, but I really do not wish to cross that border.  You should be able to find amazing figs in Thailand... oh, love that Tom Ka Gai soup. that and some figs, huh?

Hey I would love to have a chance to grow some of those! If you have any left let me know, as i'm new i'm not sure how to send a pm.

Adam, on the right upper corner of the page just below the "welcome heyitsadam17" you should see a link "private messages"
Click there you will find your PM...just click reply and you have it.

Grasa,
You are one of my favorite forum members that I have met so far. Always so generous and I enjoy reading your posts. I have no need for more cuttings, partly because I am currently rooting some of your unknown, which are doing very well by the way! I'm out of room until spring but thank your for being awesome!

Scott. I am humbled...
it is just paying fwd, I have amazing people here who gave me the jump start, without anything asked in return.. pretty amazing.

Everyone that I promised the DK cuttings should receive them on the  6th, too many for me to send out individual tracking numbers, so I will try doing that later in PM.

 Hello Grasa,

A big thank you. Cuttings of DK have arrived and are looking well. Trip was delayed for three days and they were in the mailbox during 3 subfreezing days but your packing care may have saved them from damage.

 Thanks Again,

@Volker

Reads Nursery in the UK (http://www.readsnursery.co.uk/) are selling cuttings and trees of Desert King at the moment. They should be able to ship to the EU, but don't know what the postage is like

Scott,
I have to agree with you 100% -- Grasa Rocks!  I have quite a few of her "Unks" from the last two years and expect interesting things from them this year.
Grasa -- I haven't seen any posts from you for a while...I was starting to worry!  Great to see you back (even if you never left ;-)
Cheers,
Jim
