I thought I posted this yesterday but I can't find it.
This was a bad year for my established plants. I accidentally left my oven on 200 while gone for a week and all my figs broke dormancy in Feb. We didn't leave night time temps in the 30s behind until the second week in May. I have a large, potted desert king that I put outside. Some of the green growth is lanky. Two weeks ago my dogs knocked it over in their zeal to catch a mole and tore it up, destroying all the figs. (dogs here. The beginning of the blog has puppy pictures for those who can't resist) It was too tall anyway so yesterday I pruned it pretty heavily. I waited to be sure I only got cuttings that weren't damaged by the pups. All the cuttings have at least 3 nodes. Some are green, some are last year's wood. None are dog damaged :) I dipped them in rooting hormone and have them in perlite with a little potting soil added, watered and covered in plastic.
I don't have a lot of them so first come first served. 10 (3 ea) - 15 (2 ea) people will get lucky. $6 via paypal gets you 2 or 3 cuttings - a mix of green/not depending on what's left when your name comes up via mail. I won't be able to send the longer cuttings priority. If you're buying figs from me I can include these at no extra charge. PM me and I'll send you my PP address to be sure no one pays needlessly. If you must have 3 to make it worthwhile let me know. If you insist on no green/all green let me know and I'll accommodate you if I can. If I can't you'll find out before you pay :)
Enjoy! Desert King is a great fig!
