Did this ever happen to you?

I started these cuttings last September indoors all but one are growing this cutting has looked like this for 9 months no sign of roots, the green tip doesn't look like it is going to open any time soon did anyone else ever encounter a stubborn cutting like this?

I have a VdB that looked like that for 5 months. I pretty much gave up on it and put it in potting soil and put it outside. Now it has opened and has three shoots growing! Figs can be funny sometimes. As long as the cutting feels sound and the bark does not slip, I would keep expecting it to grow - sooner or later.

Had one that sat for a year before it broke bud and grew roots..

I figure if it were happy it would grow.  I'd change what it's growing in, being sure it gets air and moisture.  Often changing the growing medium gets it to grow.

I have about 5 or 10 of them doing that, still alive but nothing growing

Glad you posted this. I have one cutting with the same green tip. The roots continue to grow like crazy but that tip won't open. I check it every day still nothing. Haha. Hopefully one of these days!

@Dave, cover it with another translucent container just like the rooting one and put it in a sunny corner...just like this.
The heat from the sun and the diffused strong light will push the cutting to it's limits in less then a week.

This is the results of it (rooted in a week or so)

I have an unknown doing something similar, they were started around mid to late March. Sat on the heat mat for a month and half, every other cutting took off in that time but not even a root inital developed.

I finally dipped it in some rooting powder because they were starting to get a little moldy. And holy cow did they root! Within 2 weeks the pots were loaded. Buuuuut now they are sitting around with lots of roots and no shoots.

I suspect they were cold damaged because I see no viable buds, might have to wait until new buds develop? We'll see.

If there are roots and no shoots I'd fertilize it.  Houseplant strength miracle grow or similar.  Remember not to saturate the soil with water.  Let the roots breathe.

I had one particular (precious) 7-8" long/ ~1/2 dia.fig cutting (old wood) twig sitting and doing practically
nothing in a foam cup filled with potting soil for over a whole year+. While throwing out other dead twigs,
I noticed that this one with no-root/no-leaf was still (top-to-bottom) viable, so it but it back in the cup.

One member/friend had recently asked me for that particular specimen.
I said/explained that this (stubborn) one is all I got; and sent it to him.
Later I learned that he cut the twig in half and (somehow) managed to
make 2 plants! Not sure exactly what else he did to accomplish this!?!

I was the last of my original GM155 twigs....
