Discount Rooting Hormone

I found this company on the Net after I'd already purchased some rooting hormone from the store (I'm taking it back to the store unopened.)  This little company at the link below offers "pure hormone in kits" (not the .01%-.05 % stuff). You have to mix it (they provide directions) yourself but it's stronger and in the long run far far cheaper.  They are moving, so my order might arrive late, but this could be a great resource if you're on the look out to save some real money. They also sell a variety of plant growth hormones and other amazing things. Note: I cannot honestly give them a recommendation without trying the product, so please if any have opinions on this company or it's products, I'd appreciate hearing it as I'm sure others would as well!    Thanks to all. Just be careful you don't use too much and end up with a cutting that that puts out all roots and no leaves.

Thanks for the advice, I wont. But, can I ask, was this your experience in over using a hormone? I haven't used any yet. Also I am using a spray cloner. Can you add it to water, since the powder would just come off? Thanks.

I haven't done a scientifically controlled study but I believe ascpete posted something on this a year or so ago that seemed to demonstrate that using too much causes problems.  My own anecdotal evidence also suggests that use of rooting hormone does delay leafing out.  I use dip n' grow at a 10x dilution by the way. I always debate with myself about whether to use it or not because it seems like if you have a healthy cutting you will always get roots - the hormone probably speeds up the process though.  In October I started about 11 cuttings of various varieties.  All rooted and were moved from sphangum moss to cups/mini-SIPs.  At this point about half have formed leaves and I'm getting impatient with the others.

I've had plenty produce leaves and no roots even with rooting hormone.

They might root a couple of days faster, but I've rooted cuttings with and without hormone.  It doesn't really matter that much.
