I've got a great spot where im planting my figs in-ground for the In-Ground 6A Challenge.  How close can I plant them together?  They will be trained as bushes.  The spot is 20x4.  I was thinking of planting them like so:

Slingha, I'm planning on doing something similar but in a single row. While some are going to go into large pots, I'm thinking of planting all along the borders of the property, and keeping them cut low every year. Gotta do something with all the figs I'm starting. :)

My plan is to build a frame with 2x4 posts and covered in insulated foam board.

I'll sprinkle moth balls all over, then get my hands on a cheap little plug in heater that will keep the whole box toasty. I'll jab a probe thermometer into the insulated board so I always know the temp.
