Do figs get better with age?

I have made wine many times from alot of dif things. on thing i have found is that the wine needs to mature to reach its full potental. in this same aspect will a fig trees fruit get better the older the tree gets. or is it more of a here it is this is it.

Yes it will. Generally complete fig taste does not come until around its fifth year, especially in pot.  In ground it can speed up a bit. However some varieties taste good regardless of age.

nice to know info

every year, the taste improve on my trees. i'm waiting till i'm 90 to see if i'm going to cream, jump and dance when i take that first bite of the season.

watch out, at 90 you might break a hip jumping around like that Pete

thankfully, my side of the family has rather strong bones.. like my head. i can't wait till next season. some of the long waited figs will be their second year putting on the figs, and some of the better ones will start their figs. not to mention it will be my older trees' 3rd year. and so far, the taste has improved every year. i'm sure there is a point where the improvment will no longer be detected. still.. can't help but to look forward to it.
