Do we eat Fig Wasps also?

Why not. I'm sure it's about as good as ants :)

If they were pollinated/caprified, yes - such as dried Calimyrna figs.

Couldn't they be picked out of the fruit?  I don't think, consciously, I would want see it and eat it...Sounds like these wasps are tiny... why would they live in the fruit?

Ya gotta have a well balanced diet. Fruit with a little meat. Don't worry you never would even notice them. That little crunch.....Is it a seed or a wasp? Hmmmm it's all good!

We used to say that about take outs in NYC. Is it shrimp shell or... :)

Fig wasps are extremely tiny. By the time the fruit is pollinated, matures and is ready to eat, any wasps left behind probably are mostly decomposed inside the sweet, sticky fig. Yum! ;)

Gross, yuck... (Gagging): okay, look I'm Asian, we eat just about everything. But gosh darn it I didn't know I was feasting on decomposed putrid candied bugs!!
Eww.

But... I must say if I have been munching on "decomposed" bugs they sure taste good. Is it really bug? Is that why its so crunchy?

come on folks, it's just a tiny insect. you won't even taste it. do you guys eat out often? if so, trust me. you had plenty :)

You're really only eating them if you eat figs where the wasp actually exists. I know there aren't any wasps in Georgia, and I don't eat store-bought fruit, so... No wasps for me.

Not that I care, I eat crickets and tripe and brains and all kinds of other stuff people find weird and/or gross.

(Eat with your taste buds, not your mind!)

did i mentioned that my 8 yr old told his whole school that koreans eat insects? i told him about all my gastronomic adventures and since i'm from korea, he figured that koreans eat insects. i had earful from my wife about telling kids certain things.

I want my fig without other living creatures!
