Do you soak your cuttings

Before you put them in the moss?   If you do is it just water or?

i used to soak them in 10% bleach solution. but no longer doing it. just wash with AB soap and mild tooth brush, and wrap them up in moist paper towel. i think i heard others using superthrive and sone using physan 20.

Pete I should have been more clear...I didn't mean like a disinfection type soak but more a re hydration type soak?

oh.. that kinda soak.. i don't soak them at all. if they are fresh cuttings, i don't think they need any.

I don't soak them and they root fine.

I have started to soak them. In the dry climate here it seems to help. I'm taking my queue for the anecdotal evidence given in The Grape Grower about increases callusing after hydration. I have been giving the cuttings a 12-24hr soak in warm water prior to rooting. I have seen no increases mold or mortality, and it seems like they do better. It looks to be especially beneficial when the cuttings have been stored or shipped prior to rooting.

Wills, thanks for brining it up. I was planning on asking as well, I'll be interested to hear what other members have to say.

I don't soak my cuttings at all and have not had a single problem with any not rooting.  My problem is the rooting, it is the post-rooting time I have yet to master.  Just finding my way....

I do not soak and have had very good luck getting roots. But am always interested when people try different things.

I do not soak healthy fig twigs.

My guess is that if they (somehow) are showing
some dehydration; they are already kaput...
