I want to know every part name of the fig flower/fruit from the opening  Eye to the part that's attached to the branch that feeds it.

jon, the part i spit out per sue's pix is stem. with figs... i like eating the seeds. it would drive me crazy if i had to spit them out :)

You mean the stalk or ... Are you eating the leaves  :) ?
Sometimes the ostiole has a bad taste too, and I spit it out too .

On the same vein, anyone suggest a fig book? You guys throw out names of things I have no clue about, especially with caprifigs.

The fig breeder I met with a couple of weeks ago said that the term "eye" is more appropriate for most discussion than "ostiole", saying that the ostiole extends through the fruit and includes the eye.
