I got the book today. It is certainly not even close to Pon's book "Les Figueres" but is a distant second in my collection. One thing it has going for it is that I can read it. It's a 7x9" paperback Australian publication. One of 28 books on specific fruits including apples, apricots, lemons, avacodo's, etc. it starts with the history of figs in Australia and lists 112 fig varieties with good descriptions but only about 10% with pictures. They do list places to buy the figs where possible which would be nice if you lived in Australia. I would think that a book like this could certainly be made here I the states with contributions from public and private sources of information such as varieties and especially pictures. I would think a book on figs with 500+ varieties would be possible with just what is available here in the States. I'd give it a 2 out of 5. It was lacking in # of varieties and pictures. Still, not a bad book at all for $30. BTW I give "Les Figueres" a 4 out of 5 because I can't read it. Lol. Where's the English translation version?
