insect bites?i have seen similar from sucking type insects on other plants,,,,

I can't make out the texture, but it might just be sun damage. That would account for why the new leaves (which I'm assuming sprouted since the plant went outside) don't show any damage.
I agree with Matt on this one. Looks like Sun Damage.
Similar to my little tree that get sun burnt. New leaf will be fine. Nothing to worry about.
