Does Bournabat require caprification?

A question in the subject.

I searched the forum but found the results conflicting.
Some say it needs pollination and some return the ripe fig reports in the Eastern US.

Anybody is growing it in the no-wasp land successfully?

May not assure you 100% but gives you some idea (about caprification or common) to start with.

Ok, thanks for the link.
I read it before and it seems that the fig benefits from caprification greatly.
Does it mean that nobody grows it outside California?

Probably Bass may be able to shed more light on caprification issue since he had started growing this fig as mentioned in post in the above thread.

Igor, I'm growing Bournabat FN which came from Jon last year.
No chance of wasps here, so maybe I'll have some information this year or next.

Thanks for your replies, guys!

Rui, what does the “FN” stand for?
And I will look forward for your update!

FN should be the initials of the person who provided that 'accession' to Jon, but I don't know who that would be.
I can tell you that it's a slow grower for me, 10" tall in its first year in a 3-gallon pot. But then again, I'm reserved when it comes to pushing growth with fertilizer.

I see. Mine is about 12” tall with two branches, I hope to get a fig to taste this summer. It is waking up now from a 3 week long winter slumber :(
It is also in a 3 gal pot.

Mine have dropped every fig early.

Mine dropped all its figs prematurely.  (it was my only variety to do so, until my Celeste did it after a particularly hot couple of days when I forgot to water it)

Ah! Now we are getting somewhere.
So it does like to have the wasps around.
This is similar to what was mentioned in the post #2
