Does Brunwick get any respect or consideration?

I couldn't get myself to throw out this fig or any fig for that matter, especially if I started it from a cutting.  I've had this Brunswick sitting around for three summers and it's stunted and I've just ignored it.  It still managed to produced a couple of figs so I thought I would up pot it and give it some attention.  I'll try to control the amount of water it get while the figs ripen.  So what do you think about Brunswick?

In the years when it ripens in dry weather, it is a pretty and tasty fruit.
When ripening in humid weather, it often bursts open and sours. I want to keep mine. It is a pretty looking plant when shaped properly

I like the flavor. Early fruits are best. The souring is annoying though. Makes a good decoy for birds tho. They seem to prefer it.

In really hot dry weather it can be pretty good. Otherwise is is pretty worthless.

Last 2 years have had mild winters which contributed in producing outstanding brebas, and nice figs. This tree will surprise you in many ways, including late maturing figs which are great , you will need a lot of patience and time, mine is at least 9 years old. I am in zone 7 and that could be the difference in not achieving the results I have been getting, take care, Sergio in SJ.

It is worth keeping for all the above reasons. And there are figs that are much worse about splitting in rainy spells. It sure is good in Texas.

I planted two Magnolias in full sun in my field on June 11.One tree sprouted some figs in on August 7 so they may ripen before the first frost.I will post some pics if they manage to ripen fully.

I think if you can control the water it gets, then its worth keeping.  I like the flavor and taste of Brunswick.  It has a rich flavor.  Last year, I discarded my 2 - 3yr old trees due to the spliting of the fruit.  I cut my trees up and tossed the root ball under my deck.  The root balls froze to the ground and sprouted this Spring.  I was shocked!  So, I potted up the root ball and now both trees are 12 inches tall and look amazing!  I like the leaf pattern on Brunswick.  So, I decided to keep them and control the growth by placing the trees in self watering pots.  I expect some amazing figs next year.  I think they are keepers if you can control the water it gets.
