Does light affect root's growth

Hello everyone,
I have some cuttings with good roots in transparent 16 oz cups. Now i have put them in sunlight. Will light affect root's growth?
Thank you.

Be careful.  Putting plastic cups in sunlight will cook them if you are not careful.  I would start by putting them in direct light like on a window sill.  I have cooked a bunch.  At this stage, I have wrapped them in tin foil to keep the roots from getting too hot and to keep them in the dark.

So it means light is not good for roots. Thanks a lot Alan, will cover roots with foil. It is not too hot as sunlight comes from a galss door in the kitchen.

Just be careful.  The heat gets magnified by the plastic and it can cause it get warm.  I think the other issue is going from warm to cool based on day/night.  I have found that more consistent I can keep the temperature, the better.  I only put the tin foil on when I see lots of roots and don't plan on up-potting for a couple of weeks.  Another easy way is to just put the rooting up in another colored cup.  Just make sure you have a hole in it so that any moisture does not collect in the outer cup.  I say plastic solo cups or fast food paper cups for this purpose.  the paper ones work well since I can poke a hole in the with a screwdriver or pencil.

Thanks Alan, I think paper cups is a good idea. Will put them in paper cups.
Best, Imran
