Does VdB = negronne?

I'm sure this has been discussed before but I didn't find much with the search feature. I was wondering if VdB and negronne are the same or just closely related? Last week I picked up a negronne from Durio's and yesterday I got a VdB from a member here and they look nothing alike. Also I'm glad to have had the good fortune of meeting Brian (cajunb) yesterday, he is very nice and has lots of beautiful trees. But anyways I was just wondering what y'all think?
Negronne

VdB

And LSU Thibadeaux I got from Brian yesterday, figured I'll throw this one in also

Yes as I understand it they are one and the same. Fresh rooted cutting will often display diff leaves than older trees of the same type.

my negronne looks nothing the top. It looks more like vdb's leaf pattern. Unless those are juvenile leaves on your Negronne

MOST, but not all, will say they are the same

I feel they are very similar if not the same. I have seen those leaves(first pic) on both negronne and vdb however the finger like leaves are the dominant shape.

Thanks y'all, hopefully it is just juvenile leaves, the only leaf on the very bottom little branch kinda has the finger shape, maybe they will change as it grows.

The short answer is yes and no. They may have been different at one time, but both have been sold for a long time under both names, so it is hard to tell which one yo have. Both have very characteristic leaves with very pointy lobes, and usually have 3 or 5 lobes, and sometimes 7, and sometimes 1.

I'll probably get grief. but if you have one, you probably don't need the other, especially if space is an issue.

Are Negronne and Large Negronne the same?

Well space has become an issue over the last few months, I'll wait till I can compare figs from the two before I decide if I'll get rid of one to make room for another. Thanks again.
Wayne, I'm not sure about that but maybe one of the experts can answer that for you, but my guess would be that if they not the same they must be close, lol

From Gustav Eisen writings Negrone

Negronne. —Size medium to below, 3 by H inches, pyriform, tapering
with a distinct, slender, variable neck. Stalk distinct, long: stalk and part of
neck bent over and rising in a curve upward, where the fig hangs down.
Ribs few, distinct, disappearing on apex, which is rounded; ej'e small, closed;
scales few, large; small iris. Skin smooth, except for the ribs; color deep
violet-black; pulp fine, dense, with small seed: meat violet-white, pulp brownish
red to amber with violet flush: inner scales ocher yellow. Tree a strong
grower. Leaves long, about 9 by 6 inches, very deeply lobed, the middle lobe
being much the longest: three deep large lobes and two shorter ones near the
base of the leaf. Under side rough. A very good little fig. It is not identical
with the Violette de Bordeaux, as suggested by Barron. This latter fig has
small leaves, otherwise the fruit is very similar.

Thanks dieseler, very good description, almost sounds like u may have sold one or two, lol

Or bought one or two

Don't know yet.
