Thank you Mike. The leaf texture is soft with no gloss but that is also because they are all new leaves. Until now the leaves have been all over the place but at this point the plants are putting out mostly uniform leaves.

Herman can you please give your opinion? I would really appreciate it.

Michael, I agree with you that all of mine are Herman's Petite Negri. I believe the Petite Negra that Joe Morle is selling is what Herman labeled as Aubique Petite. What do you think?

OK, here are some new pictures (2014-07-15) of my Aubique Petite. This year it is loaded with main crop figs. Not yet near ripe, but they've been around since late June, so there's a good chance a lot of them will ripen this year. Here are pics (and if I can link these posts to Marius' recent Aubique Petite thread, I'll do that too... not sure I can do that without removing the "?" from the thread title though). Four pictures of different branches of young main crop figs, and two pictures of different leaf styles. This tree has consistently had both of these leaf styles, for each of the past three years. Some of the young main crop figs (it had rained this day, hence water droplets) Another pic of main crop figs: Another pic of young figs: Last pic of the more young figs: Here's one of the leaf varieties... the 5-lobed (sometimes 7-lobed) leaf: And the single-lobed leaf style: Mike central NY state, zone 5a

And for contrast/comparison, here are some photos today of the Petit Negri from EL (two years later). Somewhere I've got pics of this one from 2013 as well. It ripened a few figs then (maybe 5 or 6, I don't remember exactly). But this year it has a good number, maybe 25 - 30, young main crop figs on it. They've been here since late June also, maybe a week or two earlier than the Aubique Petite formed. This tree also has two breba on it (visible in one of the pictures). Anyway, hopefully this post plus the previous one can point out some of the differences between the two varieties, which seem to have suffered from some confusion/mislabeling in the past. Young main crop figs with 2 breba visible: A leaf... one of the 3-lobed leaves: Same leaf, with a white paper behind it to show the edges better: Another leaf... this one with more lobes. The tree makes some huge leaves, fairly glossy. That paper is 8.5 x 11 inches. Another leaf picture. Different leaf. Young main crop figs visible. Some other trees in the background. A young main crop fig: And another: Another pic of young main crop: Last picture of young main crop from today: Mike central NY state, zone 5a p.s. I sprayed them with clove oil and mint oil shortly after these pics were taken.

I might as well jump on this bandwagon... So I bought a Petit Negra from Joe Morle -- is this a synonym for a VdB? I have both, but since they are very young trees, Im wondering if Ive gotten myself duplicates -- considering my relative lack of space, something Im trying to avoid...
