Dog house. Me or the figs?

Need advice. Went overboard on cuttings from friends, thoughtful members and especially Ebay. This is my first year. I took over the dining room and my wonderful wife is asking about Thanksgiving. It's cold out. Should I put the cuttings in the dog house or sleep out there myself? This is what can happen if you are not careful :)   Having great fun!

*giggle*

I don't have useful advice, but good luck (both in rooting and in having happy holidays with your obviously very patient and gracious wife.) Maybe next Thanksgiving you will be serving all things figgy.

That's an impressive set up I think your wife feels differently though... Good luck :)

ROLF....
Your setup is awesome! And yes, that's what this illness...er hobby can do. It can take over your life :-D. Yay!

By the way, you may want to offer to cook Thanksgiving dinner. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the Advice Smyfigs but I wouldn't do that to a Thanksgiving guest. My cooking? Hey, BTW where in California are you? I like your Scripture verses BTW.

Maybe clean up afterwards too...

Gee Smungung volunteer to do clean-up? I always lick my plate. Oh you mean with doing dishes? That's why I have 5 children. Actually very good advice! Thanks, I don't play that card often.

Maybe it is a good year to offer to your wife to save her from the work of a big Thanksgiving feast and offer to take the family out for a Thanksgiving buffet. And you wouldn't need to sleep in the dog house or do dishes

You know Ed's a married man. He's got all the right answers. Thanks Ed. Happy Thanksgiving!

But like nothing compares to a home cooked meal. And oh okay I hope your children like the dishes as much as the figs your going to get next year. :)

Im one of eight children. Five children makes for not a dull moment and the Thanksgiving clean up should be a breeze!

I tried rooting some figs inside the house once. I wont do it again. Figs emit a bad smell once they leaf out inside the house. Only the super rare variety will be rooted in my living room where I have lots of light. The rest belong in the dog house. lol

Hah. Your photo reminds me of my dining room. Every winter I take over the dining room window with my Cacao trees. I think guests have begun to expect the dining room to be bursting with something green!

PS: When wifey asks about Thanksgiving, tell her you're thankful for her tolerance to your fig addiction.

Sunol is a really nice spot. When I was about four years old (or so I was told) I got lost along a creek in Niles. I guess the whole neighborhood was out looking for me. A lineman up on a pole said he saw me walking along the creek (wonder why he didn't call anyone? He had a phone in his hand haha), anyway those were good days. All us little kids ran around all summer in our birthday suits behind our tall back fence and had a daily shower with the hose after making mud pies next to the spigot. Acreage in that area can be pretty exorbitant. How big is your operation or is it just for your eating? Good luck figging!

Now that sounds like a great childhood, Noel!

The amount of space reserved for the propagation of figs in a living room over the winter is in direct proportion to the amount of jewelry you can buy for your most understanding spouse.

If gnats show up you'd better throw in a vacation.

Good one, Danny.  Lol...

Hi NoelG_123,
Don't you have a basement or a attic ?
Don't your bro, sys, parents or boss have "a tiny little bit of space" for you to use ?
Do you have a garden? Can you setup a greenhouse ? Say you want Santa Claus to bring you one now, to have it all ready for thanksgiving !
Last option, rent a flat for your cuttings :)

Just in case, is your dog smallish ? I hope you don't have a dogo argentino sized one ... Does he snore ? ;P
I never went that crazy on rooting inside. Now I only buy trees or root outside at Spring time, it is way less invasive ...

None of the above JDS except for a back yard which is filling by the second. The dogs don't snore but they have really bad gas. Can I move my cuttings to your house?  :)

I took over the spare bath room. I put a piece of plywood over the tub to get the most out of the room.  You could do the same and when your guests gotta go, well then they need to go... ha,ha,ha just kidding, I feel your pain, break out the flea collar and I hope its not to cold.

Lol...I like that "then they gotta go..." punch line.  We have a great group of comedians here!
