Dominick Fig Tree Cuttings Available

Happy New Year everybody. I am offering my "Dominick Fig" cuttings for the 2nd year in a row. Last year I sent out over 75 packages and I have heard back from many very happy recipients.

In a nutshell:

This is a tree I have been growing for over 20 years both in ground and in Bill's pots. It is a Mt. Etna type,   a delicious medium size dark purple  fig brought in from Italy by Dominicks father about 75 years ago. I received a root sucker from Dominick about 20 years ago that is in the ground in my yard here in zone 7a NJ with no protection. He dies back to the ground most years, but comes back strong with figs most years in September/October, some years a bit earlier.

Dominick took care of the mother tree for over 50 years and I have saved this guy from extinction. Dominick is gone now, and the original tree is too. The one that I have in my yard  is from that tree.

I will offer up 6 four node cuttings for $10.00. This is a great opportunity for all who would like to experiment with different methods. He roots easily and nicely.

Many folks are growing the Dominick already and Jon has one that I sent him last year in the Foundation.

This tree means a lot to me, and I hope you will feel the same way too

Paypal me at:

gobohead0951@aol.com     and add your address as a note on the payment or send it to me via this email

Having done this last year, it took a lot of effort, but when I was done, it was wonderful.

Payment sent, thanks for the offer.

Nice Alan,
It's a tree that likes to hang in. Great hearing stories and seeing pictures of Dominick

Thanks for the chance to try again; payment sent.  I hope to get this right this time.  Jennifer.

I have received a few PM's asking if they are still available.
They are, still have a bunch left.
To those fine folks who have paid I will ship first thing Monday morning. I didnt want them sitting in the post office over the weekend. Was a terrific response.
Cheers
Coop

Alan, Mine are in ground but they were the last ones to go dormant out of all the different cultivars. Tenacious of their leaves and growing right up till the last minute possible.  I worried about having a lot of new growth late in the season but they are still looking really good and happy.  Don't know what is typical growth, but mine went from cuttings to almost 4' trees in one season and thrived on neglect. Have high hopes for this cultivar in zone 7.

Payment sent. Great story. Can't wait to try it.

Thanks for the offer,
Von

Ditto here too. Took a while to figure out how to do it though paypal but done now. I plan to give half of these to the Master Garden folks at WSU Tacoma.

Hey Coop thanks for the opportunity! I was dragging my feet (cause I barely have anywhere to put more figs:-) and my friend talked to me tonight about a homeorchard idea he is puttingi in this year! I told him about Dominick and he was like buy them, root em and we will pay you back and split the plants! Good deal, thanks so much! Oh yeah, PayPal sent:-)

James,
These cuttings are so vigorous. They root so easily and strongly. Have transplanted 3 to 1 gallon containers. 2 of them are still in the small containers but see root in one of the straglers. Still fast compared to the rest I planted on the same day. Thanks much for sharing.

My cutting have a lot of green but no roots yet. But green is good right? The plant should be getting the sugars to make roots. I hope.

Dude, do you know that there are places in Europe selling this fig? Pretty awesome IMHO.
