Sun Maid "California Mission Dried Figs"  $3.99 for 7 ounces.

I don't think they are dried enough for long term storage but they are so-so in taste.  I will not buy more.

Sun maid has another cultivar that was outstanding.
I think it was the Calimyrna. Try that next time. I didn't care for the dried Mission either.

The Sun Maid figs are OK, especially if you don't have any other figs to eat. : (  Kroger had another dried fig in the produce section that was packaged in a ring.  Absolutely do not buy those......terrible and disgusting. Nuts.com can be hit or miss.  Seems like they have good dried figs over winter but the quality goes down towards spring.

I had never tasted a fig at all until recently discovering SunMaid California Mission Figs at my local grocery store.  I was surprised and excited to find them.  They were great!!  I bought 2 more bags yesterday and have already finished one off.  I am so glad that I now know that I like figs--I had been growing them up till now on the mere hope that I would like the taste.

Now I just need my young trees to hurry up and start producing!  If fresh homegrown Black Missions are better than those SunMaid Missions, and if other varieties like VdB are even better than Black Missions, then I'm in for a pretty awesome treat when my BM's and VdB's etc start fruiting :)
