Dried Figs-in-a-Blanket With Goat Cheese

Looks awesome. Going to try it. I never can find goat cheese

Looks tasty, makes you want to grow some figs. Richie, look around your area for someone raising goats, they sometimes will make homemade goat cheese, that's how we found some.

Richie you should call this place here in NJ, http://www.baglianis.com/artisanal-cheese/

These guys are near my house and I believe they ship anywhere in the US.  They carry over 200 varieties of cheese and might be able to help you out.

Good luck

Wow, they look great!

Went to the store to get the fixins to make these babies. I never had Goat cheese before. My Shop Rite has over a dozen brands of goat cheese. I got 4oz of cheese and a package of Blue Ribbon mission figs. Before making I wanted to taste the cheese first.  Spread some on a dried fig....... Good. Unfortunately I got carried away, I ran out of cheese and figs.
Maybe this weekend :)

If you have access to a Whole Foods, try the Capricho de Cabra goat cheese. I'm not an enormous fan of goat cheese but I do really like that one. They cut it from the log and package it in plastic wrap themselves at the cheese/specialty foods counter, average chunk is a little smaller than a hockey puck(~$4). Nice thing is you can always ask them to give you half of what they have packaged, which is what I usually do because I can't eat that much goat cheese before it goes south. It's fantastic in a spinach salad with fig balsamic vinegar, dried cranberries, candied pecans, orange slices, olive oil, onion powder(or a little minced onion), salt/pepper. Some day I'll actually use fresh figs instead of or as well as the oranges, but since I can't stop myself I still eat almost all my figs within seconds of picking them.

Will have to give it try when I have some figs...

Goat Cheese and figs are a great combo.  You all need to milk your goats and make your own cheese.

When I was a newborn in Croatia, there were no stores selling baby formula and as it turned out, my Mon wasn't able to produce milk. In order for me to survive, my folks first had me on a goat milk feeding program until they were able to find a local woman who had a newborn and was overproducing milk and could server as a wet nurse for me. That was the case until my Uncle's who were already in the United States at that time, were able to send powdered baby formula to Croatia. In any case, perhaps as a result of my early exposure to Goat milk... I just love Goat Cheese! Goat Cheese and Figs! Wow!  Goat Cheese and Figs and Prosciutto.... Heaven....
