drooling over Negronne figlets

I am counting the days until I can try my first Negronne. I kept this young fig in a shed all winter, so it had a big head start on the season. It's got 2-3 dozen figlets on it.

These little guys below are about the size of the end of my thumb right now. They appeared around early May, so I am thinking I will ripen about the end of July, maybe sooner.

Nice! I'm about to give my negronne the lawn mower treatment, it's been in ground a couple years and grew the least out of all trees, and the couple figs I've tasted weren't that great. Since I have a couple other vdb/negronne types I guess I'll just run it over with the mower, lol. It looks nothing like yours, lol. Good luck with it.

Lookin' good, Gene. Amazing how much productivity & growth when living in a bucket. How old's your tree?

This tree was started as a cutting last March. It has grown very very nicely, last year its growth was amazing. It looks like it is going to be a great producer.

Also, as you can see, I am starting an airlayering from it. I want to send a clone to a friend up north who wants a fig. If this Negronne is as good tasting as I've heard, I am thinking about cloning another so I can have two of them. .

Gene
You are in for a treat. I've been growing my negronne for about 5 years. I bought it from Bills Figs and have it in one of his SIPs. It is one of my favorites.
Enjoy!

Good luck Gene!  I should be tasting some for the first time this year myself.  Mine are a little smaller than yours right now.  Looking forward to it.
