Drought?

We had rain over the weekend. That's unusual this time of year, and it's the second rain in a week which makes it really unusual. We're not in drought in late July!!! Except, officially. Here's the drought map. I'm in the yellow in KY. This will probably draw a "cry me a river, Oh Please, cry me a river" comment from some of you further West.

It soaked the bags in my kiddy pool sips. I'd let them dry out from the last rain and they were to the point of being too dry, but seeing the rain coming I let them go past where I would have watered. I'm hoping the flood drought cycle will encourage root growth.

We have gotten just enough rain in July to turn the dust on the cars into ugly spotted vehicles, but not enough to really help in the garden much.

We get more than much of California because we are in the foothills next to high mountains.  It always rains in the mountains, and we get some of the leftover, sometimes.  See that little lake on the map at the bottom of California?  We are north of the lake in the severe drought area.  Happy we are not in the extreme part, but so many are.  Sad.

It's really bad in some of the major farming areas up north.
