Dug up my Smith and gave it a root pruning (Pic)

I have a Smith fig plant that lost all its leafs (might have been the Roundup spraying to close to the little guy)

It had a real nice root ball, I scratched the bark right above the top of the root ball, it was nice and green, I then root pruned the large roots and re potted it.
I could not see any signs of RKN (thank goodness)
It might be a good omen, because it is raining dogs & cats now!
Hope it comes back to life.
Edit...I planted the roots in a tray of potting soil......Maybe, just maybe....something will work.

Cecil,
i wish you luck with that root system as we all know it  hurts to lose a fig plant .

Thanks Martin.

Thanks George,

Another thing, as you know we have deep sandy soil so when I watered the plant the Roundup leached right to the roots.

Lesson learned here about Roundup around Fig trees & plants.

Cecil ,
if your plant does not make it i sure hope that the roundup took other casualty with it like some of them darn nematode critters!

HAHA
I don't know about Roundup for control of RKN

Shoot Martin, ya might be onto something.

Thanks Dan,

I really think my fig trees worst enemy is me.I am ate up with the D.A.(I know ya know what that means) When it comes to gardening!

But I keep trying.

Oh Cecil ,
"forget about it" ( old family saying )  and i have a feeling what that means.
How are some of the older trees doing with emerging figs like your Celeste.
I may have a surprise for you this fall other than what was talked about between me and you and no im not gonna tell ya !
Hopefully it will woot!

Martin,

My dang Celeste is loaded with Figs, but like most other Celeste around here, it is dropping figs right & left...Something is going on around these parts as far as figs go, Some 30-40 yr. old Celeste Trees have not even ripened the first fig yet, One being the old Celeste Tree we got a small truck load of figs off of last year.( I don't have much trouble wooting them fig cuttings), it is when I plant them that has gave me the Blues
Figs around here look pretty bleak for this year.
Thanks
