Durio Nursery...FIG LIST for 2015-2016

Thanks again Frank.  My Red Italian just might be a Brunswick then.  I will call my source and have a little chat.  I'm not mad.  Mistakes happen.  Besides, I love Brunswick!

So is Dalton selling these dormant and bare rooted?

Yes.  They are going dormant but they won't be bare root.  I've never received bare root trees from him.

I have already bought two of the varieties else where that I originally inquired about from Durio but talked myself into two more making my order still at four.

I am going to give it another try. I hope he responds this time.

Thanks, Dennis. Im curious to see what they have.

Years ago, Durio use to have some large trees for sale.  That was 3 or 4 years ago.  In the Spring of 2011, I took a road trip to Texas a few years ago.  On my way, I stopped by Durio's Nursery and Mr James Robins's house.  I walked around his nursery.  We talked about figs.  He did not have many for sale.  I asked why?  He said its very hard for "real" nurseries like his to make a profit these days.  He said there are a several roadside temporary nursuries popping up in Texas and Lousiana stealling all of their business.  He said, they get bulk fig trees from God knows where and they sell them real cheap.  So for the past few years, he didn't put forth a major effort to get any fig cuttings.  However, last year he did obtain some cuttings from some forum member here.

Like Frank stated above, Atreano is a rare one!  I also recommend getting Black Celeste, Ventura, Italian Red and few others.  Black Celeste is NOT hardy though!  It's the exact same as Celeste, just black.  I think next year, I will take another road trip and visit Durio and a few others.

Hi and wondering if anyone has any atreano or atreano gold cuttings available that might have come from Bellecare? Ironically I live a mile from where Bellecare was located but I only began growing figs 3 or 4 years ago-after the Bellecare brothers had closed. I always bought veg plants at that nursury and always saw all the figs but had little interest back then. Even remember one of the brothers showing me the figs which I thought were interesting but their care seemed too complicated. Ugh!!! The site where the nursury was located is still empty and fenced. I often slow down down as I drive past wondering if something could be growing on that empty lot! Anyway if anyone has any Bellecare variety cuttings I would be interested and glad to pay. Thanks

Is this where atreano was imported from? I have it from two sources and an older Italian fellow at work has an established tree. Connecticut 6b. I have Sally's El, Gene and Corleone cuttings growing. If there is a difference please let me know so I can ask person I know about this fig. Thanks again, Mike
