I looked at some photos of this variety online last night. It looked a bit too vertical to be this one. But since each tree is different, I am not discounting the possibility. Anyone know if Fiorone Di Ruvo tastes good?

Also, since it came to my seller from a Florida nursery, I doubt they would be selling figs that need caprification. If it came from California, maybe.

FDR is a Breba only variety.  They are large, dark purple fruit that fit in the palm of your hand.  Most if not all trees grow in an upright form.  That is, unless they are shaped and pruned to grow in another manner.  For instance- Black weeping and Greek weeping are two varieties that are related to Sal Corleone and Brown turkey, respectively.  They can be manipulated by pruning techniques to take on an umbrella shape with limbs dropping to the ground.  This is accomplished by the marriage of thin branches and large heavy fruit causing limbs to drop toward the ground. Once green branches harden for dormancy the limbs are left in that state.

Definitely not FDR then. These branches come out creeping. And if they get any vertical growth, they lay down pretty quickly. Mine has yet to fruit, so that is not a factor. Thanks.

My small tree grew two figs this it's first year in ground.  They never ripened, still small and hard.  It's beginning to get down in the 40's at night so I removed one from the tree, curious to see what it looked like inside.  I am looking forward to next year and some ripe figs.

Thanks for posting. No figs yet here, so I was glad to see what next year holds.

Someone was going to send me some cuttings of this, but I forgot who, or whom.
