I brought my figs into the open about ten days ago; I looked at the seven day forecast, saw that no freezes were expected for a week and set out the figs. We have about a week before I consider it one hundred percent safe.
At any rate, they are in the sun and leafing out. I put one of my Marseilles VS in the ground in a bed that also holds an REP and a Celeste. Of all these trees, those wintered in my garage, two Tennessee Mountain figs (from Elder) are the earliest to leaf out. They have put on leaves at twice the rate the other trees are showing.
It appears that I have lost a Paradiso (Gene's strain) and that a Black#1 from UCD and a Chicago Hardy have frozen back to the roots outside. Unfortunately I sent cuttings from the UCD Black #1 to several friends and fear that they cuttings may have been frozen before I sent them.
