In any event it doesn't look good. El niño may play out in various different ways, but the main problem is the constant polar trough in the East and the hot, dry ridge in the west, perpetuating the drought out west and the nasty cold out East. Very tiresome, I must say. I wish we could shake up the atmosphere. The weather has stunk since hurricane Sandy.
