Everyone, please pray for my neice who is attending college in L'Aquila. We cann't get a hold of her yet,  A 6.3 earthquake hit my home region of Abruzzi and there is terrible devistation and death.  Please pray and hope the best for my family who is not in the city itself, but a little outside. Most everyone in the family I talked to but keep prayers open please for my Neice. Ciao. My heart is sad. 

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you, your family and all those affected by the earthquake.

It mentioned city of L'Aquila along with a student dormitory.

I wish your family well in this time of trial. It's so sad what has happened. I know how frightening it is to not know what's going on and to not be able to help. Please keep us informed when you hear news of them, especially your niece. You and all the people affected by this quake are in my thoughts.

Thanks everone for this kind words, My neice Elena is okay, they found her and she was in rubble with a broken arm and some problems with her ribs,  My family was panicking and yes Monkey, I felt very hopeless, I couldn't get a  hold of anyone and finally I did, but its terrible with me so far away and couldn't be there to comfort family.  Thanks so much for everyones wishes.  Ciao   you all are like a big fig family to me!!!

good to hear family is ok. I further saw more news reports and well its not good, the dormitory i mentioned in last post was hard it in that city with some making it and some not. Other areas including very old buildings dating back to 13th century are no longer and many injuries . 

Hope you can now sleep well along with eating for baby.

I am so glad to hear the news of your neice. Rest well as Martin says - worrying in no good for the little one. Best of health.

Thanks God your niece is alive!
I called my good friend and brother in Christ, and I was happy to hear that his daughter, who is a college student in the region close by to L'Aquila, is fine.
Hope Elena will get well soon! It's great that you have a big family, she  needs your support and love.

Pleased to learn that the final outcome for your family members is a good one.

I spent a week in that area a few years back. I loved it there especially the fountains coming into the city.
I just found this on line. Here is a map attached that I blew up some so you can read the print showing the red markers on the towns in that area that where effected by the earthquake.

Sorry, took a while to respond, it has been hard here in my family both here and back home in Italy.  I have keept calm for my baby, but is very hard, I wanted to help my paisani back home.  My hometown is okay, just minor damage, my family has taken in some Siciliani until there family can come to get them from Sicilia.  There Easter will be very sad this year. I was going to go to Italy the other day,but i need to be with my husband and the family is doing okay on their own, they will call if they need my support.  

Pezzuti, thanks for the map, it is true very much all over, not just in the big CITY of L'Aquila, it is all over the L'Aquila province.  just mess mess mess.  But they are resilient and it will be taken care of immediately and the region will be back up and running soon.  One thing i heard nice is that the fig trees in my cousins land are opened and they are moving along and so can we!!!  Ciao
