Easy Air Layer Method

Make a t shaped cut in the rubbermaid type container. I used miracle gro sphagnum moss with the fig and mulberry tree below. You can spray paint the container to block sun if exposed to a lot of sun.  I used a light brown color on the one below. If the lid will not stay secure use a strong rubberband.

A really good tip for larger air layers, transplants or uprooted suckers after potting them is to water them just enough to dampen the soil put them inside of a white or clear garbage bag and put in the shade for a month or so. I have done this with  4-5 ft fig tree suckers that i uprooted in the middle of july and they survived with minimal roots. I recently dug up 5-6ft mulberry trees with minimal roots and wrapped them in a clear plastic couch cover and kept them watered...they survived. This reduces transpiration or water loss...keep them out of the sun!

Looks great. How long did it take to get that much growth?

The fig is about 3-4 weeks. The mulberry took about 6 weeks.

Awesome! Great idea.
